The National Curriculum

The National Curriculum provides schools with a framework of what to teach so that children across schools acquire the same basic knowledge and understanding in a range of subjects. It sets out an outline of core knowledge around which teachers can develop exciting and stimulating lessons to promote the development of children’s knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum.

At present we are only taking bookings for Key Stage 2 groups.

We suggest a minimum of 2 hours to visit the exhibition and to complete other activities tailored to the key stage.

The children would start by looking at a short powerpoint to explain what Magna Carta is and dress in medieval clothes.

They would then complete 3 different activities in rotating groups:

1.We have some questions on a clipboard the children can complete whilst looking at the actual artefacts.

2.They can make a clay seal like the wax seals used on the documents, they would also use quills and ink to write.

3.They would colour some illuminated letters, colour and stick together a horn template and complete a word search sheet.

Your visit can be extended to a full day visit, by combining it with a Town Walk (this may incur charges).

Please complete a booking form to arrange your visit.
